“Magnum Opus” by Luke Saunders

In a world over-stimulated with visual content, an artist concedes to temptation and confronts the potential threat of obsolescence.

Set in the near future, an artist is confronted with the temptation of using a newfound piece of technology to automate her artistic process. The hard work and passion our protagonist pours into her sculptures seem no match for artificial intelligence, leaving her and us to questionvwhether artists are indeed immune from obsolescence, as we are so often led to believe. Upon taking the easy route, she gazes upon her ‘creation’ with a feeling of uncertainty and is left with a tough decision to make.
